Why is Chicago called the Windy City?

I’ve always wondered, why do people call Chicago the Windy City, and is it really that windy there?

Chicago is called the “Windy City” not just because of its strong lakefront winds, but mainly due to 19th-century journalists who used the term to describe the city’s boastful, “windy” politicians and residents who talked big, especially during the rivalry to host the 1893 World’s Fair.

"Hey fellow travelers, the nickname 'Windy City' has nothing to do with the weather in Chicago. It actually originated from the city's politicians, who were known for their long-winded speeches in the late 19th century. This earned Chicago the reputation as a city of talkative politicians, not gusty weather."
