I’m visiting Carmel soon and would love recommendations on the best beaches in Carmel for relaxing, walking, and enjoying scenic ocean views.

Carmel-by-the-Sea offers a number of lovely beaches to its visitors. The most famous is Carmel Beach that attracts by its soft white sand, picturesque sunsets and calming walks. Near the Carmel river State beach, there are serene sceneries and wild animals that can be watched along the river lagoon. Another picturesque location is the monastery beach which is known to have dramatic ocean sights and diving.

Top beaches in Carmel-by-the-Sea include Carmel Beach for walks and dog-friendly fun, Carmel River State Beach for peaceful nature views, Monastery Beach for dramatic scenery, China Cove for a picturesque cove experience, and Garrapata State Park for rugged shoreline and trails. Swimming can be dangerous; enjoy scenery and photography instead.

The best beaches around Carmel‑by‑the‑Sea for visitors include Carmel Beach with its iconic white sand, beautiful sunsets and dog‑friendly vibe, Carmel River State Beach for peaceful walks and birdwatching by the lagoon, Monastery Beach for dramatic coastal scenery, and nearby hidden coves like China Cove or Sea Lion Cove in Point Lobos State Natural Reserve for stunning views and nature spotting. These spots offer a mix of relaxing strolls, scenic photo ops, and nature experiences along the rugged Pacific coast.
