What are some must-do activities in Guanajuato—colorful streets, museums, food spots, and cultural experiences I shouldn’t miss?

Guanajuato is honestly one of the most underrated cities in Mexico, the colorful streets, the Callejón del Beso, the mummy museum which is equal parts creepy and fascinating, and just wandering the alleyways at night is an experience on its own.

"I've had the chance to explore Guanajuato and I highly recommend visiting the Alhóndiga de Granaditas - it's a historic building turned museum that's steeped in history. Also, get lost in the colorful streets and take in the stunning views of the city from the top of the hill. Don't miss the vibrant nightlife in the Barrio Alcalde either"

Guanajuato is such a vibrant city, you'll definitely want to explore its colorful streets and alleys, like the famous Callejón del Beso, which is full of history and romance. Be sure to visit the Alhóndiga de Granaditas, a historic museum that played a key role in Mexico's independence, and the iconic Basilica Colegiata de Nuestra Señora de Guanajuato. For food, try some traditional dishes like pozole or sopaipillas at one of the many local eateries, and don't miss the Mercado Hidalgo for a taste of the local culture and some unique shopping opportunities. The city also has a great cultural scene, with many festivals and events throughout the year, so be sure to check those out as well.
