No — your miles in Atmos Rewards (formerly Mileage Plan with Alaska Airlines) do not expire simply due to passage of time.

However, your account may become inactive if you haven’t earned or redeemed any points for more than 24 months; at that point your account can be locked and if it remains locked for a further period it could be closed — which would result in forfeiting your points.

I actually wondered the same thing a while back — do Alaska Airlines miles expire? I had a stash of miles sitting in my account from a couple of work trips, but then I had to cancel a flight unexpectedly. I wasn’t sure if that would affect the miles I’d earned, so I ended up calling 844-734-0813 to clear things up while I was rebooking everything.

The agent explained that Alaska miles don’t expire as long as your account stays active, which basically means earning or redeeming miles at least once every couple of years. That was a relief because I definitely don’t fly every month, and with my schedule changing so often, I never know when I’ll need to cancel or switch flights at the last minute.

During that call, I also ended up modifying another booking, and it was surprisingly smooth — honestly the easiest part of the whole situation. So yes, your miles are pretty safe with Alaska, and if you ever need quick help figuring out your account or reworking travel plans, that number is the fastest way to get someone who actually knows what they’re doing.
