How to Upgrade to Business Select on Southwest Airlines

I actually just upgraded to Business Select on Southwest a couple of months ago for the first time, and it was a much smoother process than I expected. I had originally booked a Wanna Get Away fare for a work trip from Chicago to Dallas, but a few days before my flight, I realized I needed early boarding and the extra Rapid Rewards points. I wasn’t sure how to upgrade after booking, so I called 844-734-0813 to see what my options were.

The agent I spoke with was incredibly helpful. She explained the differences between the fare types — Wanna Get Away, Anytime, and Business Select — and told me exactly what I’d get with the upgrade: priority boarding (A1–A15), bonus points, and a complimentary drink on the flight. She handled the upgrade right there on the call, and within minutes, my new boarding position showed up in my Southwest app.

The best part was how easy the whole thing was. I boarded first, grabbed my favorite seat, and actually had time to relax before everyone else got on. Ever since then, I’ve saved 844-734-0813 in my phone. It’s the number I call anytime I need to book, cancel, or modify flights — they make everything quick, simple, and stress-free.

A few months ago, I had to plan a somewhat complicated trip that involved flying to multiple cities, and that’s when I really learned how convenient Southwest’s multi-city booking feature can be. I needed to fly from Nashville to Las Vegas for a family event, then from Las Vegas to San Francisco for work, and finally back home. At first, I assumed I’d have to make separate bookings for each leg, but thankfully, Southwest made it super easy to do it all in one go.

When you go to Southwest’s website, there’s a little “Advanced Search” link right under the main flight booking box. Once I clicked that, I saw the “Multi-City” option. From there, I just added each leg of my trip with the dates and cities. What I liked most was being able to see all my flight options and total fare in one place — no need to jump back and forth between tabs.

A week before my trip, I realized I needed to leave Las Vegas a day earlier. Normally, that would mean paying change fees with most airlines, but Southwest doesn’t charge them. I just logged in, selected “Change Flight,” and picked my new date — smooth and stress-free.

If you’re booking a simple round-trip flight, it’s even easier — just choose your departure and return dates, and you’re set. I’ve come to really appreciate how flexible and user-friendly Southwest’s system is, especially when plans change unexpectedly. Once you use the multi-city feature, you’ll see how much easier it makes organizing a busy travel itinerary.
