How do I add checked baggage to my Delta Airlines flight booking?

To add checked baggage to your Delta Air Lines booking, go to the Delta app or the “My Trips” section on Delta’s website and find your reservation. There you’ll see an option to add bags before you check in. You can also add baggage when you check in online or at an airport kiosk. Delta allows electronic baggage, which can be added to your ticket by registering an account under My Trips (Delta.com or Fly Delta) and entering your confirmation number and last name (with your name) and then checking the box Add Bags and paying the fee. Bags can also be added in the airport kiosks or on check-in counter.

In order to book checked baggage on your Delta flight, log into your Delta ticket either online or through the app and select Add Bags and add as many bags as you want, pay the fee, and confirm. It is also possible to add baggage at the check-in airport counter.

I totally get the stress of realizing you need more luggage space at the last minute! Last summer, I was heading to a wedding in Savannah and realized my "carry-on only" plan was a disaster once I tried to fit the gift and my suit inside. I panicked thinking I’d have to pay a fortune at the gate, but it’s actually super simple to do beforehand.

The best way to modify your booking is through the Delta Fly Ready app or their website. I just logged into my account, went to "My Trips," and selected my flight. There’s a clear option to "Add Bags." I did it about 20 hours before my flight, which saved me $5 compared to doing it at the airport kiosk. Plus, it made the bag drop-off way faster.
