From what I’ve seen over the years, Southwest prices can be a bit unpredictable. Sometimes they drop closer to the travel date, but other times they shoot up without warning. I learned this the hard way when I kept waiting for a fare from Denver to Phoenix to drop, only to watch it climb steadily for a week straight. I finally gave up and rebooked through 844-734-0813 which honestly saved me a ton of time since they helped me sort out the whole price-change mess instantly.

What I do like about Southwest is their flexible change policy—so if you book early and the fare drops later, you can just reprice it and get the difference as travel credit. That’s usually my strategy now. I book when the price looks decent and keep an eye on it instead of gambling on a last-minute deal
